The May 2018 Japan trip was just completed and was very successful, thanks to the gracious hospitality of teachers, mentors and apprentices. I will return to Japan in November to plan the Ceramic Tour to Japan, in May 2019. The details are still being worked out, but if you are interested, or know someone who may be interested, please contact me as soon as possible through my email address.

There is a maximum of 12 participants and there are already 9 people who are committed to participating, as a result of not being able to join last year. Spaces fill quickly.

I will be running international tours to Japan and Italy. The Japan tours are ceramic related with craft and food components. These tours give the opportunity to enter the intimate world of artists and artisans, visiting their homes and studios. A few highlights are: the Isamu Noguchi Museum, Naoshima Island  of art intstallations and a visit to a Living National Treasure in Bizen. We visit a number of well known artists as well as a few up and coming artists in their work environments.

Italy is similar in that it gives an opportunity to learn about the culture, history, art, craft, food, and wine (of course), through visits with artists, artisans, and museums throughout the trip. Italy may or may not have a hands on work component, to be announced.
