**Workshop dates can be arranged for groups of 10 or
more
The workshop will begin with a general description of the 2 wood
firing kilns that the artist Jeff Shapiro uses for his work. We will
discuss loading, glazing, and firing options for the wood firing. The
remainder of the morning will be comprised of demonstrations and then
participants will begin working with 6 pounds of clay from the studio to
make a single piece for the firing. Participants are encouraged to also
bring a single bisque piece from any mid range clay (cone 4-8) Size:
half cubic foot or less. Clay must not be low fire. This workshop is NOT
A FIRING WORKSHOP. The kiln will not be fired during the workshop, but
people may visit during the firing at a later date.
Hinako Shapiro will prepare lunch and there will be
a discussion about the relationship of food and vessel.
Jeff Shapiro will also fire the wood fire pizza
oven and explain the process for building one.
The afternoon will be utilized to complete the
piece started in the morning.

The cost is $150.00
Included: demonstrations,
lunch, 6 pounds of studio clay, studio made piece and bisque piece to be
fired.
* Limited kiln space is available at $60.00 per
cubic foot.( 2 pieces per cubic foot maximum)
